Rug Hooking Teacher, Mentor and Fiber Artist

Visit Laura's Studio:
My studio is back upstairs, but in total dissarray! I'm busy with teaching gigs for the next 3 months, so the Studio is closed except by special arrangement or until further notice. I'm not sure what's next; I enjoy teaching and being a resource for hooking information. However, I have many rugs and feel the need to join a fiber art cooperative; in hopes of selling rugs! Otherwise, my studio is stocked with beautifully hand-dyed wools, patterns and other rug hooking supplies. Call (707) 762-2595 for supply purchases, design services or private lessons.   Studio open by appointment.

Little River Inn Rug Camp on the Mendocino Coast!
Our 14th year, October 29 - November 3, 2017, we enjoy Ocean views from each room, a rug show on the walls of our classroom all week, 2 talented teachers - Trish Johnson & Anita White, plus several mini-classes and a slide show. There's more information on my LRI web page; check it out at Little River Inn Rug Camp!

Animal Faces!
The Rug Hookers in Grants Pass, Oregon invited me to teach a 3-day Workshop on Animal Faces, back in May 2015!  It was great fun; just like teaching portraits but with fur... and sometimes, tongues!

Puget Sound Rug School in Washington State, March 16-20, 2017.  This Rug School is a rare treat; Michele Wise and Sara Judith make it intimate and inclusive, challenging and stimulating!  It is convenient to Sea-Tac International Airport with nice accomodations and beautiful views. Check out Puget Sound Rug School to find out about next year's classes and teachers!

McGown Western Teachers' Workshop! We get together for the last week of June on the U of O campus; Go Ducks! Lots of creativity at this teachers' conference; something new everyday.    We take turns practicing the art of teaching rug hooking.    If you want to join us, let me know!

Hooker Hill Rug Retreat, July 16 - 20, 2017. I'm looking forward to teaching again at this little rug retreat nestled in the Sierra's! Just south of Yosemite, the ECCO Conference Center is beautifully situated with the main building overlooking a pond with ducks, geese and swans. The Wool Poppies are a small ATHA chapter, but they are mighty!  and organize a great retreat.  The entire collection of Caswell Impressions will show at Hooker Hill's new Rug Show venue. There are a few spaces left in my class, so come & join us if you can!

I'll be bringing 78 'Caswell Impressions' rugs to Sauder Village Rug Event for the Rug Show in August 2017! Kathy Wright does a fabulous job of organizing this super Rug Event each Summer, in Archbold, Ohio!
I've been asked to teach a Retreat! I'm delighted to teach a class on 'Faces, Places & Animals too!' some of my favourite subjects.   Please sign up for my retreat, if you can. Laura's Retreat  Otherwise, I hope you can make the trip to Ohio, to see the show & I'll see you there... on Saturday! or after 4pm during the week, come by and see me.

Prairie Harvest Rug Hooking School in Edmonton, Alberta, September 17 - 22, 2017! Western Canada's venue for higher learning of Rug Hooking & Fiber Arts! I'll be offering a class in one of my favorite subjects: 'Pictorials and Light Effects'; (fine and wide cuts). I've been wanting to attend this school, so teaching there will be wonderful! It'll be great to see many old friends, and make new ones too.

Teaching in 2018...

'Friends by the Sea' in Rockaway, Oregon, next year, April 1-6, 2018.  My classroom is now in the Arts and Crafts Building with easy access; it is a great space and we all enjoy sharing our projects in the intimate atmosphere.  Arlene & Kathy put on a wonderful Rug Show and show case a Rug Artist each year; in 2018 it will be Carol Fegles!    As always, it's great to see all my Rockaway friends and the beautiful Oregon Coast!  Hope you can join us, next year!

I enjoy teaching and sharing the Art of Rug Hooking; if your group is interested in booking a class or workshop, please let me know!        Thanks, Laura
